Reviews for The Herd of Brutes

“Scot Williams was not looking for easy options when he decided to write this graphic encounter (THE HERD OF BRUTES). The aim of the young writer (he’s still only 20) was to produce something specifically theatrical. In other words, a work which takes account of reality, but then moulds it by way of given device. In this sense, Williams lays great emphasis on what has gone before, both writing wise and in the lives of his characters. His play is therefore a mini-treasury of quotation and reflection.
En route, Williams has produced a drama, as stark and dark as anything from Strindberg or Ibsen”
(JOE RILEY / THE LIVERPOOL ECHO)

“Williams has here a play in THE HERD OF BRUTES and more importantly a talent, that should bring him much critical and commercial success, he is writing specifically for the theatre, unfortunately, this style is rare. His work is very open to individual interpretation, rather than so defined and contrived that it becomes stale. The preamble to THE HERD OF BRUTES, suggests that it leaves you thirsty for more…it does”
(SHOUT MAGAZINE)

“THE HERD OF BRUTES’ monologues are rich with language and use some striking imagery”
(PHILIP KEY / DAILY POST AND ECHO)

“THE HERD OF BRUTES is poetic and powerful. I was intrigued at the way the lives of the characters interwove. Williams’ writing is original…he undoubtedly has talent”
